Things to consider. . .
We'd like to make sure everyone enjoys their time in Santa Barbara and at our wedding.
The ceremony and reception will be taking place at The Courtyards at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, an outdoor location.
Below is some information to help you choose attire, and keep comfortable outdoors.
Shoes: The Courtyards at the Museum are heel-friendly. Comprised of compacted sand, the ground won't sink beneath heels like grass and won't be punctured by stilettos. However it is an outdoor location with landscaping; including trees, stone pathways, etc. If walking is a concern please wear sensible shoes.
Weather: Santa Barbara is notorious for "June Gloom" which can last all summer. Normally the marine layer burns off by 2 p.m. but sometimes it can linger all day. On the other hand we do have summer heatwaves that can reach the upper 80's. With an afternoon ceremony and evening reception high temperatures shouldn't be an issue but the possibility is always there. Our rule of thumb for Santa Barbara weather is layer, layer, layer. A sweater or shawl for ladies, and a suit jacket for gentlemen should ensure no one is chilly in the evening, but can be removed for warmer daytime weather.

Allergies: The Museum Courtyards include a variety of live plants, including Olive trees, which are common to the surrounding area. Santa Barbara also boasts many natural pollinators such as bees which are attracted to the abundant lavender that grows here. If allergies are a concern please plan accordingly as the venue is outdoors and open to the elements. To see a list of common allergens in Santa Barbara County please click below:
We hope this information helps you plan well and have the most fun possible at our wedding!
See you soon,
Rachel & John.
